Expanded CEE Categories and SAC Professional Interests

Expanded Categories for Continuing Education Equivalents (CEEs)

SAC’s Certification Program includes an expanded list of CEE categories to align with the program’s new requirements and allow for greater choice and flexibility in how members can obtain CEEs. To further assist members, we will be removing many of the current restrictions on the maximum number of CEEs members can claim per category per cycle.

Certified members will also have the option of obtaining CEEs specific to areas of professional interest.

Adding a Professional Interest to SAC Certification (Optional)

The SAC Certification Program will provide certified members wishing to go a step further in the certification process the opportunity to focus additional professional development in one or more areas of professional interest (e.g. speech, language and literacy development, adult swallowing, tinnitus, implantable hearing devices, etc.). To be able to declare one or more areas of professional interest in the new SAC Certification Program, certified members must complete 20 CEEs (in addition to the 45 CEEs required for certification) in each professional interest over a 3-year cycle.

1 professional interest = 20 additional CEEs

Certified members who declare one or more areas of professional interest may add the following to their credentials: Aud(C), with Professional Interest in (area of interest selected); S-LP(C), with Professional Interest in (area of interest selected).

NOTE: Focusing on a professional interest is optional. You can maintain your SAC Certification without adding a professional interest.  SAC Professional Interests allow you to focus additional professional development on one or more specific topics. SAC Professional Interests are not indicative of competency, specialization or certified practice in a clinical area.
