COVID-19 Update: Communication Supports

Communication Disability Access Canada (CDAC) has compiled resources to support people with communication difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic. These resources are available on the CDAC website and Facebook page. The resources include a communication rights toolkit for patients with COVID-19 who need communication tools and supports due to speech-related disabilities.

Communication tools from Patient-Provider Communication are available to support healthcare providers working intensive care units, as well as in other settings. 

The Aphasia Institute has developed an aphasia-friendly resource to support conversations about preventing the spread of COVID-19. The resource can be adapted, and is available on ParticiPics – the Aphasia Institute’s online database of pictographic images. 

Tactus Therapy has made available a free aphasia friendly handout about COVID-19.

TobiiDynavox has free COVID-19 communication and teaching materials available.
