Merrill Tanner has been a speech-language pathologist for 43 years, mainly in Alberta partially in Saskatchewan. Her clinical experience spans from paediatrics to geriatrics. Merrill has worked in many environments such as acute care, rehabilitation, long-term care, public schools K-12, a hospital school, and a school for the deaf, with people who have communication issues related to voice, stroke, brain injury, dementia, ageing, fluency, speech, language and swallowing disorders. She has worked with voice, stroke and school-age neurological clinics as well as swallowing and pupil appraisal teams. Merrill’s business education and experience are unusual within the profession and would be very helpful with the implementation of the strategic objectives budgeting and business decisions. Her PhD in Rehabilitation Science and research experience prepare her to help with policy decisions such as evidence-based treatment.
