Evonne Syed is currently a first-year speech-language pathology student at McMaster University. Her earliest contribution to SAC dates back to 2021 when she initiated a May Speech and Hearing Month project with a fellow undergraduate student colleague to advocate for the S-LP profession and spread awareness. This resulted in the co-creation of her career resource titled “So you want to learn about speech-language pathology?” which has been published and made available on SAC’s website as part of a news article. This guidebook serves as an introduction to the S-LP profession and was created with the hope of inspiring future generations of S-LPs. It also highlights the need for cultural and linguistic diversity in the field. Evonne strives to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion in the fields of SLP and audiology, and as a trilingual, bicultural, racialized woman. She looks forward to representing and advocating for culturally and linguistically diverse groups.
